Serving the Elderly: Mitzie Watson

Mitzie has more than 30 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse. Early in her career she worked at hospitals and medical clinics in Fort Worth and Houston, providing newborn and pediatric care. Several years ago, when she was working at Pediatric Specialists of Plano, she redirected her career to care for her mother who was diagnosed with Cognitive Impairment. Over time her mother’s condition digressed to Alzheimer’s, and Mitzie cared for her until she passed away at the end of 2020. Mitzie was served by the Alzheimer’s Association during that time, and now she enjoys being able to give back to others by serving as a community educator through the Alzheimer’s Association. With the experience gained in caring for her mother, she started a business in 2018 called Assisted Living Locators. She now provides services for families looking for senior living options whose loved one needs a change in where they live and the care they receive.
